All characters in this story are 18+ years of age or older.

It had been six weeks since that afternoon with Jacob, where he roughly handled me in the guest bedroom while my parents and my older brother, Eric, were away.

A lot had changed since then. I was preparing to go to college in a few weeks and I took on a part time job at the mall in order to make a little extra cash before I left.

On top of all of that, since Jacob had just come back home after eight years at war overseas, he needed a temporary place to live while he looked for a place of his own. And since he was Eric’s best friend and also a friend of our families’, my parents asked him if he wanted to stay with us. Jacob agreed to it immediately and moved in his few belongings the next day.

I honestly didn’t mind that Jacob had moved in with us. I liked having him there, even though communication between us was a little bit awkward since that afternoon of rough sex.

My parents had given him the room next to mine, which was Eric’s old bedroom. I felt safe with an ex-Special Forces soldier lived in the room down the hall from me, but it also made me a bit nervous, knowing how easily his laid-back attitude could turn to aggression.

And if I had learned anything six weeks prior, it was that getting on Jacob’s bad side would only turn into me having a sore pussy and bruises on my hips from his firm grip.

Still, though...there are much worse things in life than living in the same house as your older brother’s sexy and muscular ex-military friend...

  ...or so I thought...

  ***

I hopped out of the shower and stood naked in front of the mirror. My anxiety had been driving me crazy the previous couple of weeks. I hadn’t had my period and I was starting to think that I might actually be pregnant.

If I don’t have my period within the next five days, I’m going to go get a pregnancy test and find out, I promised to myself.

As I combed through my thick, blonde hair, I looked myself over in the mirror. My breasts looked a little bigger and more full than they did even just a few days before. I wasn’t sure if it was just my imagination, though, because I was so hopped-up on the idea of possibly being pregnant.

“Maybe I’m still just growing up a bit,” I whispered, as I softly ran my fingers over my chest. “Or, maybe I really am pregnant...”

I smiled at the thought of being pregnant by Jacob. The idea made me a bit nervous, too, since I was young and had no idea how to be a mother. But I liked to imagine what it would be like to end up with Jacob and have him be the daddy of my kid.

Bringing my hand from my breasts, I slid my fingers across my skin and down toward my belly. There, I slowly rubbed circles over my stomach, wondering if there was a child growing inside.

“You’d make a good dad, Jacob,” I said, as I let my fingers dance across my bare stomach. “I just don’t know how I’ll tell you the news.”

I sighed and then set my brush down on my dresser. Then I grabbed a hair tie and pulled my hair back into a ponytail.

Five days...I thought. Five days and then I’ll get the pregnancy test.

I knew it was going to be an anxiety-filled few days as I patiently waited to take the test, but I also didn’t want to jump the gun and take it too early. I wanted the test to be 100 percent accurate so that I would know for sure whether or not I was pregnant before I mentioned anything to Jacob or my parents.

  “Are you fucking serious?!”

I heard Jacob shouting on the phone in his room next door.

It was early in the morning and it was my only day off from my crummy fast food job at the mall. I couldn’t tell by the way he was shouting if he was angry or excited.

“Butch, the one and only mother fucking Butch...” he said, his voice getting louder with every word.

The walls in our house were apparently paper-thin, because I could hear every word as it came out of his mouth.

“You’re seriously coming back?” Jacob said. “You’re done with your tour?”

I sat up in my bed and cocked my head to the side, making sure that I didn’t miss a word. Jacob was silent for a moment and I assumed that he was giving whoever was on the other end of the line a chance to talk. After a few seconds, I heard him speak up again.

“Well, hey, I’m staying at a family friend’s house at the moment, but I’m sure that they wouldn’t mind if you stopped by here,” he said.

Immediately, I felt a lump in my throat.

“No way, man,” he continued. “They won’t mind. Besides, the mom and dad are gone most of the time anyway. The only other person that’s ever here, besides me, is my buddy’s bratty little sister, Avery.”

  A scowl crossed my face.

  What a jerk...

I hated it when people talked behind my back. I would have ran in there and gotten in his face about it, except I didn’t want him to know that I had been listening the entire time.

Suddenly, I could hear excitement in Jacob’s voice through the thin wall that separated our bedrooms.

“Seriously?!” he shouted. “Man, I cannot wait to see you. It’s going to be great. I think the last time that we saw each other, I was getting hauled off after that helicopter crash. It’ll be good to reunite under much better conditions.”

Seriously? He just invites people over to a house that’s not even his?

The more I learned about Jacob, though, the more I realized that he pretty much did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. I shouldn’t have been surprised that he invited his old war buddy to our house.

I leaned closer to the wall, pressing my ear up against it. Then I heard Jacob say, “Okay, man, I’ll text you the address. See you in a few.”

Then his room went silent. Not even a second went by, though, before I heard Jacob’s door open. Then immediately, Jacob came barreling into my room. I was left standing there in my pajama bottoms and tank top, my ear still pressed against the wall.

“What in the hell are you doing?” he asked.

I backed away from the wall and smiled.

“Oh, nothing,” I said. “Just...um...thought I heard a mouse in the wall.”

Jacob shook his head at me. It was obvious that he didn’t believe me, but surprisingly, he didn’t seem to care all that much.

“Well, whatever,” he said. “I just wanted to let you know that my buddy, Butch, will be by in a few minutes.”

I pretended like I had no idea what he was talking about.

“Oh, really?” I asked. “Who’s Butch? Was he friends with you and Eric when you were kids?”

Jacob chuckled and I watched his muscles ripple underneath his tight, white t-shirt.

“No, he doesn’t know Eric,” he explained. “Butch and I were at war together...which reminds me. Don’t be rude to him, Avery. Don’t act like you did when I first came back. Butch has spent a lot of time in a warzone and he has an even shorter fuse than I do. He’s not exactly the type of guy that you want to piss off. I’ve seen what happens when he gets angry and it’s never good
.”

I rolled my eyes at him and then turned to my closet to find something to wear for the day.

“Jacob,” I said. “Why are you always trying to be so intimidating? You could try to be sweet to me once in a while. I mean, you did take my virginity after all and you’ve hardly spoken a word to me since.”

I looked back at Jacob and he shook his head, clearly annoyed.

“Avery, can talk about that later?” he asked. “I’ve got a lot on my plate right now, especially with Butch coming by.”

Then he glanced at his watch.

“Shit, he’ll be here in a few minutes,” he said. “I’ve got to get dressed.”

Then he turned around and started to head out of the door. He stopped in the doorway on his way out and then looked over his shoulder.

“And remember, Avery,” he said. “Be polite and try not to piss off my friend...”

Knowing that we were going to have company, I decided to wear something halfway decent. I didn’t want to look overly dressed, but I also didn’t want to look like a total scrub. I decided to wear a long, white summer dress. For my top, I put on a baby-blue t-shirt.

“This’ll work,” I said, as I twirled in front of the mirror that was hung above the dresser, watching the dress fly up past my waist.

As soon as I came to a stop, I stepped up to the dresser and sprayed on my favorite fruity perfume. I didn’t have many opportunities to dress up and I found myself enjoying it, even though it was for a total stranger.

I hope he’s nicer than Jacob, I thought, chuckling to myself.

I let my blonde hair down out of its ponytail and slowly brushed it, looking for loose ends. With that out of the way, I leaned in close to the mirror like always, making sure that my makeup looked great.

Then I stood back away from the mirror and turned to the side, looking at my profile.

No way...I thought, as I looked at my belly.

My mind must have been playing tricks on me, because I could have sworn that my belly looked a little bit bigger than it had just a few days before. But it had only been six weeks since Jacob had released his seed inside of me, so I had to play it off as my lack of recent exercise and poor diet.

“You’re going crazy, Avery,” I whispered to myself.

I’m probably not even pregnant. I mean, who gets pregnant their first time having sex? I probably missed my period because of my anxiety about this whole thing. Anxiety can cause you to miss your period, right?

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when I heard the doorbell ring. I glanced over at the clock.

Jacob was right. It’s only been ten minutes and Butch is already here.

I heard Jacob’s bedroom door swing open, then a few seconds later, I listened to his footsteps as he ran downstairs to get the door. I quickly ran over to the window and glanced down. I couldn’t see Butch from my room, but I did see his car. It was a black SUV with tinted windows. It looked really nice, much nicer than what I had always imagined a military salary could afford.

I took a deep breath and then glanced in the mirror once more to make sure I looked good. Then I grabbed the handle on my bedroom door and stepped into the hallway.

  ***

  “Damn, man, you look great!”

I heard Jacob’s voice as I made my way down the stairs.

“It’s good to see you, brother,” a man’s voice responded. “The last time I saw you, we were loading you up in a rescue chopper. It’s hard to believe that you’re still here.”

I took a deep breath and continued my trek down the stairs.

“Yeah, that was a close call, wasn’t it?” Jacob commented. “I’m glad to still be here. I’m even happier that you’re here right now. I heard you had a few close calls yourself ever since I left.”

I began walking down the hallway toward the front door, listening to their conversation the entire time. When I turned the corner to the main entryway, I saw the two men standing and talking.

Butch, who was a few inches taller than Jacob, glanced over at me immediately.

“Who’s this?” he asked, without any hesitation whatsoever.

Jacob looked back at me and then rolled his eyes.

“Oh, that’s Avery,” he said. “She’s my buddy’s littler sister. She’s kind of a brat, so don’t let her get on your nerves.”

I ignored Jacob’s rude comment and walked up to the stranger, holding out my hand to introduce myself.

“And don’t let Jacob get on your nerves, either...” I said. “He can be kind of an asshole.”

Butch looked me up and down slowly and then finally reached his hand out to shake mine.

  “I’m Butch,” he said.

I felt my face turn red immediately as he squeezed my hand. I looked him over, completely enthralled by what I saw.

He had a shaved head and dark, almost black-colored eyes. He had a perfectly trimmed, black heard and as I glanced over his body, I noticed that he was just as muscular as Jacob was. Even though he was wearing a black, long- sleeved shirt, I could still make out his large, muscular chest that was hidden underneath.

Are all military guys in this good of shape, or only Special Forces?

  “I’m Avery,” I finally said.

Butch finally released, letting my hand drop to my side. I still found myself staring at him, though. I couldn’t help myself.

Jacob motioned for Butch to come inside.

“Come on in, brother,” he said. “I’m sure you’ve had a long trip and we have a lot of catching up to do.”

Butch nodded in agreement and stepped inside. I couldn’t help but to admire the way that his muscular shoulders moved when he walked, contorting in cadence with each of his steps. As soon as he stepped inside, he rolled up the sleeves of his shirt.

  Wow...

His arms were completely covered in tattoos, all the way from his wrists to his elbows. I wasn’t able to tell exactly what they were of, except for an obvious one on his right forearm. It was a detailed tattoo of a grenade exploding, made to look like shrapnel blowing out across his skin.

I loved tattoos on guys and seeing these on Butch just made me feel even more attracted to him. I knew I had to keep myself in check, though, because for all I knew, I was pregnant with Jacob’s child.

“Can I get you something to drink, Butch?” I asked, as I smiled coyly at him.

Jacob shook his head, clearly annoyed.

  Is Jacob jealous right now?

  Butch nodded his head.

“Sure, Avery,” Butch said. “I’ll take a beer or whatever you’ve got.”

I smiled like a little kid trying to impress her teacher, then I turned and headed out of the main room and toward the kitchen. As soon as I left, I heard Butch and Jacob talking and I immediately wondered if they were talking about me.

I quickly grabbed a beer for Butch and then headed into the living room, where the two ex-soldiers were seated on the sofa.

“There you go, Butch,” I said, handing him the cold bottle.

He took it from me, but didn’t say a word. Then he continued speaking to Jacob as though I wasn’t even there.

“Well, you remember what happened in the desert that one night, right?” he asked. “I’ll never forget that shit. I think about it every fucking day.”

  Jacob nodded as Butch spoke.

Maybe all of those stories that Jacob told were actually true...

Butch took a sip from his beer and then looked over at me. I immediately felt like I was intruding, since I had no clue what they were talking about.

“I’ll go,” I said, feeling awkward just standing there.

  Jacob spoke up.

“That’s a good idea, Avery,” he said.

I turned to leave, but then Butch grabbed my wrist, stopping me in my tracks.

“Fuck that,” he said, his deep voice sending a pleasurable tingle down my spine. “You can hang out with us. Why the hell not, Jacob?”

  I smiled and then
stuck my tongue out at Jacob, who shot me a dirty look in exchange.

“Have a seat,” Butch said, motioning for me to sit down on the couch across from them.

I did as I was told and sat down across from the two men.

“So, what do you do, Avery?” Butch asked, as he slowly looked me over.

I found myself pushing my chest out, trying to accentuate my developing breasts for him.

“I have a stupid job at the mall until college comes around this fall,” I said, as I brought my hand up and began to flirtatiously twirl my hair around my finger.

Butch seemed to ignore my gesture, as he let his eyes move up and down my body. He soaked in the sight of me for a moment and then returned his gaze to Jacob.

“Hey, Jacob,” he said. “Do you remember that bet we had before your helicopter crash?”

Jacob cocked his head to the side.

“No, what bet was that?” he asked.

Butch brought his arms over the back of the couch in a relaxed pose.

“The one we agreed on before we went to war,” he said. “We said that whoever went home first, had to do the other one a huge favor.”

As I sat across from them, I shifted around in my seat, trying to find a position where I thought I looked the best. For some reason, I found myself trying to impress Butch and I wanted him to stare at me with the same hunger that Jacob had when I first met him.

Jacob chuckled and responded to Butch, “Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that. Are you saying I owe you a favor?”

Butch’s relaxed demeanor began to change quickly and a serious look crossed his face.

“You’re fucking right you owe me a favor, Jacob,” he said. “You left me out there, man.”

Jacob sat up in his seat and responded quickly. “Butch, I was fucking injured, man. What did you expect? Do you think that I wanted to leave you out there?”

Butch gave an icy stare to Jacob.

“You were fully recovered within three months, Jacob,” he said. “And I’ve been out there for the past two years without you. You could have come back if you didn’t milk your fucking injury.”
